PennWest Faculty Resource Guide

Information & Updates for Faculty using PennWest Libraries Resources

Fast Facts

The following are some things you/your students need to be aware of moving forward. As always, if you have any questions, please contact a librarian.

  • Old URLs - Most links to library resources and services have changed. To determine the current link, go to the library's homepage, and use OneSearch to find resources; then simply copy/paste the link(s) you wish to use into your syllabus, page, D2L shell, and so on.
  • Persistent Links - As in the past, simply copying/pasting the URL to an article or book typically won't work. Instead, you should copy/paste the persistent link (sometimes called a permalink) whenever available.
  • EBSCO Accounts - If you have an EBSCO account which you use to save articles, citations, and so on, be aware that these account will no longer be accessible after September 30th. Should you wish to migrate your account, instructions for doing so can be found here.
  • Course Reserves - Items you wish to place on reserve for your courses should still be directed to the person at your local library for processing. We will be using a single, shared platform for ereserves. The link to such is available via the link at the bottom of the library homepage.
  • Instruction - Whether in-person or online, librarians are available to provide you and your students with instruction on a variety of information-related topics. Please contact a local librarian for more information.
  • No-Cost Textbooks - There are a growing number of Open Educational Resources (OER) and Digital Rights Management (DRM) Free textbooks available. These titles have a number of benefits not the least of which is that they do not cost your students anything. If you are interested in learning more about these resources, please contact either Dr. Monty L. McAdoo (Edinboro, 814-732-1070) or Tonya Otto (Clarion; 814-393-2329) for more information or to receive a link to an overview guide.
