Start with these to find scholarly journal, newspaper, and magazine articles. HINT: Filter by Publication Date or source type, such as Scholarly Articles ...(Peer Reviewed).
- America: History & Life w/ Full Text This link opens in a new window The definitive database of literature covering the history and culture of the United States and Canada, from prehistory to the present. This database contains selective indexing for 1,700 journals from 1955 to present, and full-text coverage of over 200 journals.
- Historical Abstracts with Full Text This link opens in a new window An exceptional resource that covers the history of the world (excluding the United States and Canada) from 1450 to the present, including world history, military history, women's history, history of education, and much more. This authoritative database provides indexing of historical articles from more than 1,800 journals in over 40 languages back to 1955.
- OneSearch This link opens in a new window OneSearch combines most of the library's resources into a single database. Rather than search databases separately, you can do just "one search." OneSearch includes articles, ebooks and books, and more.
- JSTOR Collections This link opens in a new window A full-text archive of over 1,700 of the best scholarly journals in social sciences, humanities, and life sciences disciplines. Includes access to ARTStor.
- American Antiquarian Society (AAS) Historical Periodicals Collection This link opens in a new window This resource from the American Antiquarian Society (AAS) provides full-image views of historic periodicals from 1684 to 1912 in five collections, covering the Colonial Era through the Civil War and Reconstruction. Note that coverage past the 1880s is rather limited.

- Ebsco eBook Collections This link opens in a new window Access thousands of full-text electronic books across multidisciplinary and subject specific collections.
- ProQuest Ebook Central This link opens in a new window Access over 170,000 full-text electronic books across multidisciplinary and subject specific collections.
- WorldCat This link opens in a new windowBibliographic database containing millions of records from more than 60,000 libraries. Fast, one-stop searching for citations to books, media, chapters, etc., in over 400 languages. Search globally or limit to resources owned by PennWest Libraries.

- Google Book Search To find historical primary sources, limit search to "Full View Only" and use "Publication Date" limit. Many, but not all, sources published prior to 1923 are available in full-text.
Find Streaming Video
- Academic Video Online (AVON) This link opens in a new window The database includes scholarly video material of virtually every video type: documentaries, interviews, performances, news programs and newsreels, field recordings, commercials, demonstrations, original and raw footage including tens of thousands of exclusive tiles. There are thousands of award-winning films, along with the most frequently used films for classroom instruction, plus newly released films and previously unavailable archival material.
