Healthy People 2030

Healthy People provides science-based, 10-year national objectives for improving the health of all Americans. For 3 decades, Healthy People has established benchmarks and monitored progress over time in order to:

  • Encourage collaborations across communities and sectors.
  • Empower individuals toward making informed health decisions.
  • Measure the impact of prevention activities.

Healthy People 2030 strives to:

  • Attain healthy, thriving lives and well-being free of preventable disease, disability, injury, and premature death.
  • Eliminate health disparities, achieve health equity, and attain health literacy to improve the health and well-being of all.
  • Create social, physical, and economic environments that promote attaining the full potential for health and well-being for all.
  • Promote healthy development, healthy behaviors, and well-being across all life stages.
  • Engage leadership, key constituents, and the public across multiple sectors to take action and design policies that improve the health and well-being of all.

Leading Health Indicator Topics

A smaller set of Healthy People 2030 objectives, called Leading Health Indicators (LHIs), highlight the high-priority health issues and actions that can be taken to address them. These LHIs are used to assess the health of the United States, facilitate collaboration across sectors, and motivate action at the national, state, and community levels to improve the health of the U.S. population.
