FYS 1000: Navigating the First Year at PennWest

This guide supports FYS 1000 classes at PennWest University.

Google Scholar

Google Scholar is a scholarly search engine that allows you to link directly to online full text available through the PennWest Library's databases and subscriptions. There are two options for enabling PennWest library linking in Google Scholar. 

Option 1: Use this PennWest Google Scholar link: https://library.pennwest.edu/db-gscholar. This link will direct you to authenticate as a PennWest user and automatically enable links to our full text resources.

Option 2: Follow these easy steps to enable PennWest library links in Google Scholar settings. Use this option if you want to save results in your Google Scholar Library, which requires a personal Google account.

  1. Go to Google Scholar at: https://scholar.google.com/
  1. Select hamburger menuon the top left of the screen.
  1. Select settings menu
  1. Select Library Links from the top menu, enter PennWest in the search, check Pennsylvania Western University - Get Full Text @ Pennwest, and save. These settings are saved in your internet browser until you clear your cache and cookies.library settings

PennWest Full Text Links

Full text links for articles will display on the right-hand side of search results in Google Scholar. This includes PennWest Library resources links and freely available links that do not go to the library.
